I submitted a theme request but I haven’t heard anything? Also, I what are the requirements for images submitted for custom themes?
Themes are created at the discretion of our staff. We will not produce a theme which contains inappropriate content including nudity. We also will not produce themes from images with text which is not in English (as we cannot check what the text says). We generally require images to be at least 640 x 640 pixels in size, this allows us to produce high quality themes for both portrait and landscape themes. In addition to this we are currently working on including VGA versions of themes which is why they need to be larger. Generally if you can use the image as wallpaper on your PC then a theme can be created from it. Images also must not be copyrighted. If there is a copyright logo on the image then the theme cannot be reproduced. We endeavor to ensure images are not copyright but cannot guarantee it, if you find an image which you believe is copyrighted please contact us and we will remove it. We do not create personal themes which are unlikely to be downloaded by other visitors of our site. This includes but is not limited to: pictures of yourself, your family, and your friends.
Finally, we endeavor to contact you if you do not meet these requirements however due to the increased number of requests this is not always possible. We are working on an automated system which will allow us to do this more easily.
Will these themes work on my phone/PDA?
This is a very difficult question. The technical answer is this… If your phone/PDA runs at a QVGA resolution then it should work. The vast majority of Windows Mobile phones/PDAs run at this resolution so why not download one and give it a try. These themes generally don’t work on smartphones as they run had a different resolution, however give it a try just in case. Themes are designed for both landscape and portrait viewing.
What happens if I install a theme and it is not compatible?
The worst that will happen is the theme will change the colour scheme of your phone without changing the background image.
I installed the theme and it didn’t work, what now?
This probably means your phone is not compatible. We are looking into offering themes for other screen resolutions however this is not available at the moment. We are currently trying to compile a list of phones which are and are not compatible so if you have a few spare moment please contact us with details of your phone and whether or not it was compatible.
How do I install one of your themes?
Theme installation is very easy. Firstly the theme file needs to be transferred to your mobile device. This can be done in several ways (bluetooth, activesync, IR, email, USB). Your manufacturer should have provided you with instructions for putting files onto your mobile device. Once you have moved the file onto your device you need to change the theme. To do this click start, Settings, Today, select the new theme from the list, and click OK in the top right-hand corner. Your mobile device should pause for a few seconds (10 seconds or so) while it initialises the new theme. You should find your phone has now switched to the new theme with a new background and colour scheme.
How are your themes created?
Themes are created using a wonderful program called ThemeGenCE (note: site in french). In addition to this image editing is performed on on all images prior to creating the theme to ensure they are the correct size and to alter any colours as necessary.
